Ashley, ND-Funeral service for David Paul Jenner, 65, of Ashley will be 11:00 am, Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at Ashley Baptist Church. The Rev. Chris McLaughlin will officiate.

     Burial in Ashley City Cemetery with military graveside rites by Frank Piper American Legion Post #53.

     Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-7 pm with a prayer service at 7 pm at Carlsen Funeral Home in Ashley.

     David died October 19, 2013 at St. Alexius Medical Center at Bismarck.

     David Paul Jenner, son of Vernon and Ruth (Luebeck) Jenner was born September 14, 1948 at Eureka, SD. After graduation from Ashley High School, David then completed his education with a double major in animal science and agricultural education from North Dakota State University in 1971.

     He was united in marriage to Deborah Meidinger on September 19, 1970 in Ashley Baptist Church. In the fall of 1971 they moved to Oakes, ND. David started the first Agricultural Education Program as well as the first Future Farmers of America chapter in the Oakes High School. His teams won district, state and national recognition. David’s career was highlighted by a first place championship in the dairy showmanship division at a national contest in Missouri. While in Oakes, David’s farming career began on an independent level. He was one of the first farmers to plant sunflowers in that area. David was commissioned a second lieutenant in the Army National Guard, serving in Oakes and Valley City for six years. In 1975, he was discharged.

     In the spring of 1974, the Jenners moved back to their home town of Ashley. They made their home on the original homestead. A partnership between David and his father was established. He also taught the Adult Veterans Agricultural Program in Ashley for four years. In 1987 the State of South Dakota recognized the Jenner Family Farm as a Century Farm.

     David was a member of Ashley Baptist Church, former Sunday school teacher, building fund treasurer and trustee. He was also President of South Central Investors. He was a former member of Ashley Lions Club and the Elks Club and past President and Director of McPherson County Crop Improvement.

     David is survived by his wife, Deborah; two daughters, Gretchen (Dan) Girard and Christen (Dustin) Carufel, both of Bismarck; one son, Taylor (Rebecca) Jenner of Aberdeen; his mother, Ruth Jenner of Ashley; two sisters, Judith Maier of West Fargo and Rhoda Young of Jamestown and seven grandchildren, Gannon, Micah, Eden, Isabelle, Brylee, Eloise and Oliver.

     His father, Vernon (4-20-2010) preceded him in death.

     Honorary Casketbearers will be David’s Grandchildren, AGR Fraternity Brothers and Oakes FFA Chapter.

     Casketbearers will be Dan Girard, Dustin Carufel, Greg Grenz, Jim Klipfel, Brook Maier and Ben Klipfel.

     The organist will be Jean Schnabel, soloist is Kristina Neuharth accompanied by Colin Neuharth. There will be a flute solo by Tammy Meidinger and the ushers will be Steve Luebeck and David Mueller.

     The family prefers memorials to Ashley Baptist Church.
