N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – University of Jamestown Theatre will open the 2013-14 season with the Rodgers and Hammerstein classic “Carousel.” The show runs Oct. 24-26 at 7:30 p.m. nightly in the Reiland Fine Arts Center’s DeNault Auditorium.

Millworker Julie falls for carnival barker Billy. Before long, worldly concerns strain the romance, and the newly expectant father goes to tragic measures to provide for his family. Carousel is often considered Richard Rodgers’s most beautiful score, featuring songs like “You’ll Never Walk Alone,” “June is Bustin’ Out All Over,” and “If I Loved You.”

Tickets are $10 and can be reserved through the Box Office. Call (701) 252-3467 ext. 5435, send e-mail to tickets@jc.edu, or visit the University of Jamestown web site, www.jc.edu and click on “Community” and “Reiland Box Office.” The Box Office is located in room 130 of the Reiland Fine Arts Center. Box Office hours are 3 to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding school breaks.

The season continues Feb. 6-8 with “The Cover of LIFE” by R.T. Robinson. Three war brides are about to become the subject of a national magazine.
“Once in a Lifetime” by George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart runs April 10-12. A trio of down-and-out troupers set out for Hollywood to hit it big in the early days of talkies in this hilarious comedy.

The season concludes May 1 with “An Evening Of One-Acts,” original works by the University’s playwriting class.
Season tickets are available for $25 and include admission to all four productions. Requests for season tickets can be made through the Box Office.
