CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The Barnes County Commission held a public hearing Monday to receive input from citizens concerning the proposed budget.

The proposed budget represents a 16.14% increase over last year’s budget. Barnes County Commission President Eldred Knutson says the inflated percentage reflects a wish list by some entities. He says the actual budget may show a slight increase once it’s finalized this month.

Last year the budget decreased compared to the previous year. Two people attended the hearing on September 30.

A special budget meeting is set for Thursday, October 10 at 10am inside the commission chambers.
