(NewsDakota.com) The Griggs Barnes County Titans were in action last Saturday for their second Saturday game of three this year. The Titans rolled over the Stanley/Powers Lake Bluejays 42-0. GBC improves to 2-3 overall and 2-1 in the Class AA West, the Bluejays fall to 0-5 overall and 0-3 in Class AA West.
All the scoring for the Titans took place in the first half, led by Senior running back Wyatt Steckler with four touchdowns. With just two and a half minutes burned off the clock in the first quarter, Steckler would get his first touchdown from 21 yards out. Sophomore quarterback Jayden Grover would start the second quarter with a 19-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Cole Diede. About three minutes later, Steckler would rush into the end zone from 60-yards out. Steckler would score two more times before the half, from 13 and 10 yards out, he had 7 carries for 163 yards and four touchdowns.
After Zach Guthmiller intercepted a pass with about four minutes remaining in the half, the Titans would take full advantage again, this time Grover would hook up with Hunter Engel for a 20 yard touchdown pass. Grover was 5-7 for 85 yards and two touchdowns.
Kicker Alberto Mendez made six extra point kicks in a row, he also tried two field goals. The 35-yard attempt was no good but the ball hit the goal post and his 50-yard attempt was just short.
The game lasted only two hours, players of the game for Griggs Barnes County was Jayden Grover, Wyatt Steckler and Beau Beattie on defense.
