CITY, N.D.(NewsDakota.com) The Hi-Liners tennis team was playing for their post season lives against Wahpeton on Monday night.
The Huskies came into Valley City for a play in match to the Eastern Dakota Conference playoffs. The winner would take on Red River, the loser was simply done for the season. The Hi-Liners wasted no time getting out front. Derek Reimers defeated Wahpeton’s, Jonathan Bartels 6-1, 6-0 in number one singles competition.
Over on the doubles court Valley City’s Jacob Wendel and Brandon Miller were in a dog

fight. After taking game one by a score of 6-1, the Huskies came back and stole game two from the Valley City duo, in a 6-4 finish. In the final game, it was Wendel and Miller who out lasted the Huskies earning another win for the the Hi-Linners.
Valley City needed just one more win to earn the trip to Fargo, instead they got three. Both Dustin Miller and Dalton Ondracek won their singles matches, while Sam Jenson and Evan Haglund earned the final doubles victory in a tie break.
The 5-0 sweep, means that the Hi-Liners will head to Fargo on Thursday, September 26th for the EDC regional tournament. As the eight seed, Valley City will take on Red River. The complete bracket can be found on this link.
