Francis Heery, age 70, of Spiritwood, ND died Monday, September 16th at Sanford Health in Fargo, ND. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, September 23rd at the Lerud Schuldt Funeral Home Chapel in Valley City. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the Lerud Schuldt Funeral Home Chapel in Valley City. Interment will be in the Montpelier Cemetery, Montpelier, ND.

     Francis Joseph Heery, the son of Bernard and Katherine (Sellers) Heery, was born April 7, 1943 in Jamestown, ND. Francis attended St. Catherine’s Catholic School in Valley City for a short time. He grew up and finished his education in the Jamestown Public School System. After receiving his education, Francis began farming with his father on the family farm near Spirtwood, ND. Francis also served in the North Dakota National Guard for 6 years. Francis owned and operated the Fix it Shop in Montpelier, ND. He later hauled machinery, and did machinery set up for John Deere in Jamestown, ND. On August 6, 1984 he married Deborah Stevens in Valley City, ND. He later worked for Conley’s Massey Dealership and farmed part time until 1988. In 1988, he began Heery Trucking that he owned and operated until his death.

     Francis was a past Mansfield Township Board Officer and a member of the Owners Operators Independent Drivers Association.

     Francis is survived by his wife Debbie, Spiritwood, ND; and one son, Aaron Heery, Spiritwood, ND.

     Francis was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one step-daughter, Sarah Stevens.
