CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The much anticipated move of the Public Service Answering Point System from the Valley City law enforcement center to the Barnes County courthouse is underway today.

Barnes County Emergency Manager and 9-1-1 coordinator Kim Franklin says state radio is handling emergency calls through the transition. She says quote “we hope to have the transition completed by the end of the day.”

Franklin says the center has 3 full-time dispatchers with 3 in training. She says they expect to be fully staffed by the end of December.

Franklin says the new non-emergency dispatch phone number is 845-8181 and the fax number is 845-8189. In case of an emergency call 9-1-1.

The Valley City police department phone number will remain the same at 845-3110.
