N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Ford announced today that they would be recalling 370,000 of their vehicles due to a possible steering failure.
Cars included in the recall are 2005-2011 Ford Crown Victoria, Mercury Grand Marquis and Lincoln Town Cars. According to Kaare Gjerding, Fixed Operations Manager for R.M. Stoudt Inc. in Jamestown, the vehicles recalled are based on VIN Numbers.
“I don’t anticipate many vehicles in our area will fall under this recall as North Dakota driven vehicles are not under the recall parameters. This recall is VIN specific. I do not have access to the VIN’s that qualify for the recall at this time. It may be available later this week or early next week.”
Gjerding says that “The recall is due to corrosion of the swing link joints on the lower intermediate steering shaft, combined with a collapsed upper intermediate steering shaft can result in steering column separation leading to a loss of steering control.”
States the recall is valid in include Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.
