(NewsDakota.com)- As we saw in the spring of 2013, living in the northern part of the country can have an effect on the length of the spring college baseball season. The North Star Athletic Association is becoming the first NAIA conference to sanction fall baseball that will count toward the regular season record.
Three of the five North Star teams have opted to take advantage of the fall season and will play in four triangulars. Valley City State, Presentation College and Mayville State will begin play on September 15th in Valley City.
University of Jamestown and Dakota State opted not to participate in fall baseball this year for various reasons.
The other dates will be September 15th in Mayville, September 22nd in Aberdeen and October 6th back in Valley City.
The NAIA allows 55 regular season contests to be played, but with the weather in North & South Dakota teams in the NSAA are lucky to play 40. The games this fall will count toward regular season win/loss records of 2014, but not the conference standings.
All stats will be added to games play this coming spring.
