Thomas Hass, age 56, of Valley City, ND, died Monday, August 19th at his residence in Valley City. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 24th at Grace Free Lutheran Church in Valley City. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM and one hour before the service on Saturday morning. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM on Friday evening at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery near Valley City.
Thomas Dean Hass was born in Williston, ND on July 29, 1957. He was raised on the family farm North of Valley City, neighboring Bayshore Resort, and attended Valley City Public School and High School graduating in 1975. During his younger school years Tom enjoyed making his classmates laugh, playing basketball, and attending the science fair. In High School Tom was involved in sports: football and wrestling, the FFA, and 4-H. Tom was confirmed in the summer of 1971 at Grace Free Lutheran Church. Tom was close with some of his first cousins as they grew up together. Tom loved hunting and fishing and when he wasn’t busy with these he enjoyed watching hunting and fishing on TV. Dogs were also a big part of Tom’s life as he had a special bond with them, particularly Labradors. Tom worked various jobs throughout his life and suffered some injuries as a result of his tenacity. He was also fascinated with computers and enjoyed listening to music.
Tom is survived by his mother Donna Hass, three children Travis Hass; April (Michael) Whisler; and Samantha Hass, three siblings Julia Hass; David (Jeanne) Hass; and Suzanne Hass, three grandchildren Caleb Faucett; Aurora Faucett; and Trevin Hass, aunts and uncles Eleanor (Don) Senrick; JoAnn Korf; Allan Froemke; and Bonnie (Eldwyn) VanBruggen, many cousins, and his dog Lacy.
Tom is preceded in death by his father Emil Hass, Jr., a stillborn daughter Angel Hass, and several loved pet dogs.
