CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Outflows at Baldhill Dam are back to normal after officials with the U-S Army Corps of Engineers completed a 5-year inspection of the structure northwest of Valley City.
Baldhill Dam Resource Manager Rich Schueneman says the structure is in excellent condition and received a clean bill of health from the Dam Safety Program Managers.
He says it was like working in a blast furnace as temperatures climbed into the 90s on Monday & upper 90’s on Tuesday working near the steel and concrete structure.
Schueneman says all the gates on Baldhill dam were closed in order to complete the inspection work with a minimum flow of 13 cubic feet per second coming from the fish hatchery siphon and pumping operations.
Schueneman says routine inspections are conducted at the site annually but this type of inspection is done every 5 years.
