(NewsDakota.com) Individuals working on the formation of a fire district for Dickey and Sargent Counties say they are still in search of acquiring enough petition signatures to send the proposal to the Dickey and Sargent County Commissions.

Randy Burley with the Oakes Volunteer Fire Department says the petition needs signatures from 60 percent of those who live in the proposed district; consisting of Oakes, Crete, Ludden, Guleph and the surrounding area.

Burley says the 60 percent goal is close, but signatures are still required.

Those wishing to sign the petition in support of the Fire District are asked to visit Napa Parts Supply or Praka’s Hardware Hank in Oakes or by contacting any member of the Oakes Volunteer Fire Department should they have any questions.
