N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown/Stutsman Development Corporation staff, DeAnn Brunner and Holly Miller, attended the International Economic Development Council’s Workforce Conference July 18th-19th, 2013.
The course focused on the workforce topic and the idea that skilled workers are the backbone of a productive and efficient economy. This course explained the strong relationship between economic and workforce development through case studies, practical examples, and current research.
DeAnn and Holly learned what programs currently leverage federal, state, and local financial resources to support workforce development. The conference also covered collaborative programs that will help upgrade the skills of the community’s existing workforce.
“The networking opportunities at this conference were invaluable. I was able to take away key points from every speaker and apply them to scenarios in our community, as well as learn more about the key role education plays in strengthening and growing our workforce. This course allows me to further expand my knowledge and earn credits towards becoming a certified economic developer.” said Holly Miller, summing up her experience at the conference.
Brunner agreed that this statement was the perfect explanation of the conference.
