(NewsDakota.com) In the opening round of the 2013 State Class B American Legion Baseball tournament, the boys from LaMoure and Beulah found themselves with a back-and-forth affair, with every at-bat towards the home stretch of the contest potentially determining the winner. In the end, the home team was able to force extra innings, and move past LaMoure 3-2 in eight innings on Wednesday.

The game started out well for Post 19, as they scored the first two runs of the game on a single hit in the fourth inning. Beulah added their first run in the bottom half of the inning. In the bottom of the seventh, Beulah pushed across another two, and won the game in the bottom of the eight with a single.

LaMoure committed four errors, and Jared Meiklejohn was the losing pitcher going two innings in relief of Chris Heinrich who struck out 12. Trevor Zacher earned the win for Beulah, with seven hits against him and 14 strikeouts. Meiklejohn had a double and a run scored in the defeat.

LaMoure and Enderlin will play each other in loser-out play at noon Thursday. Coverage on Q101.1FM and NewsDakota.com will start at 11:45 a.m.
