County has been added to a list of counties in the state that now falls under a presidential disaster declaration signed by President Obama earlier this week.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency has been in the county the last week doing preliminary damage assessment to survey the damage that has been caused by excessive water this spring.

FEMA will pay 75 percent of all covered costs to repair damages to public infrastructure in the county, the state will pick up 17.5 percent of the bill, which means 7.5 percent of the cost of repairs will need to be paid by local governments.

The declaration does not included individual assistance, but if 100 homes in the state are found to be damaged due to the high waters, that would trigger an individual assistance clause.
