Meehl, 73, formerly of Oakes, ND passed away July 17, 2013, in her home in Fargo. Phyllis Ann Orn, daughter of Alfred and Ida (Swanson) Orn was born August 2, 1939 in Oakes, where she grew up on the family farm near Stirum, ND.

She attended school in Crete, ND and high school in Lisbon, ND. After high school, Phyllis was employed with Northwestern Bell as a telephone operator. In June 1959, she married Lawrence “Tony” Meehl, and together they had four children. Phyllis worked very hard on the Meehl farm near Crete. She worked for the Chalet Supper Club and was known as Miss Kitty (from the TV show Gunsmoke) at the club and it was her CB handle when CB’s were popular. She also wallpapered for many people in Oakes, and was employed at the Good Samaritan Society for many years.

Phyllis was very active as an EMT volunteer for the Oakes Ambulance for several years teaching CPR, and was very instrumental in the startup of the annual soup and sandwich fundraiser that is still going on today in Oakes. She was active with the Altar Society at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church and sold Christmas Around the World. Phyllis moved to Fargo in 1995 and was employed at Evergreen Place, managed her apartment complex and most recently was employed at RiverView Place. Phyllis was very family orientated and loved to host the holidays, and she loved her job no matter what job it was. She also loved gardening, vacations, going to the lake, fishing, reading books, cooking and baking for family and friends. We always looked forward to her homemade stuffing, Krumkaka and Rosettes.

Missing her deeply will be her two sons, Tim Meehl (Deb), Perham, MN and Joe Meehl (Tina), Crete, ND; two daughters, Darla Faehn, Riverview, FL and Melisa (Terry) Roehrich, Oakes; and ten grandchildren, Kayla (Kyle) Mattson, Kasandra (Eric) Schaumburg, Kelli Meehl, Corine Faehn, Benjamen Faehn, Andrew Faehn, Diana Faehn, Zac Roehrich, Samantha Roehrich and Deagan Roehrich; four great-grandchildren, Bryce Mattson, Bree Meehl, Wyatt Schaumburg and Neva Ann Schaumburg.
