CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The Valley City board of commissioners voted to support a resolution that they hope moves Sanford Clinic and Mercy Hospital to reach an agreement concerning physician privileges with Mercy Hospital.
Valley City commissioner Madaline Luke said having a cohesive health care system with the hospital and clinic is vital for economic development in the community.
Valley City Mayor Bob Werkhoven and City Commissioners Mary Lee Nielson and Matt Pedersen agreed.
City Commissioner Duane Magnuson voted against the resolution.
Earlier this month Mercy Hospital CEO Keith Heuser announced that 4 Valley City Sanford physicians would resign their hospital privileges on August 1. Heuser said the hospital is in the process of hiring doctors to fill in the gap.
