CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The driver of a Jefferson Lines bus traveling from Bismarck to Minneapolis will be charged in connection with an accident just off the Interstate 94 exit near Valley City on July 15.

Captain Bryan Niewind says an extensive inspection of the bus by the Highway Patrol found no mechanical problems that could have caused the crash.

The driver, 46-year-old Stephen Arther of Duluth told police as he exited the interstate for a stop in Valley City, he attempted to slow down but the brakes didn’t work. The bus hit the ditch. Five passengers suffered minor injuries. All have been treated and released.
