FORKS, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Authorities intercepted a large shipment of marijuana aboard an Amtrak train in Grand Forks early this morning.

Border patrol agents told police that a suspect was traveling on a train with a large quantity of marijuana. When they arrived, they found an unattended bag on the second level of a train. Lieutenant Jim Remer says no one claimed the bag.

An identification card for a California man was also found inside. Police had contact with him in Grand Forks, but he denied ownership of the bag.

Officers knew he was headed to Fargo aboard the empire builder. They called Fargo police, who arrested the man when the train arrived.
