Evelyn Lillian (Shafer) Winings, age 83 of Valley City died June 19, 2013 at the Sheyenne Care Center in Valley City. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 PM Saturday June 22, 2013 at the Lerud-Schuldt Funeral Home with Rev. Wade Miller officiating. Visitation will be from 5 PM until 7 PM Friday evening at the funeral home with a Prayer Service beginning at 7 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the funeral home on Saturday. Burial will be in the Arthur Cemetery at 4 PM Saturday.

     Evelyn was born March 2, 1930 in Gunkle Township of Cass County, ND. She graduated from Casselton High School and was married to Howard Winings on June 12, 1949. The couple farmed near Oriska, ND and later at Arthur, ND before retiring to Rogers, AR in 1987. Howard died in 2004 and she lived for a time at Mounds, OK before moving to Valley City. She enjoyed cooking large family meals and being with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

     Evelyn is survived by her 3 children: Robin Winings, Aberdeen, Idaho, Don (Rita) Winings, Valley City, ND, and Janine Winings (Mark Feist), Mounds, OK, 3 grandchildren: Kristy (Jeff) Falstad, Travis (Michelle) Winings, and Vicki (Tim) Hass, great grandchildren: Sarah, Carson, Carter, and Claire Hass and Alexis Falstad, and many nephews and nieces including Cheryl Hartl, her “Honorary Daughter”. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a sister Helen Steiner, and a great grandson Jordan Johnson.
