D.C. (NewsDakota.com) – Senator Heidi Heitkamp says there has been a lot of attention put toward undocumented workers in the debate over immigration policy and not enough attention to those who are crossing American border’s illegally.

Heitkamp says along with creating a pathway to citizenship, lawmakers have the opportunity to strengthen our borders. She also says there is growing support for the measures called for in the current bill.

Heitkamp says there has been some success in making sure America’s borders are secure and resources are being put toward closing problem areas.
