Marsha Offner, age 69, of Valley City, ND, died Thursday, June 13th at her residence surrounded by her family under Hospice of the Red River Valley care. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, June 19th at Epworth United Methodist Church in Valley City with Chaplain Ken Schock officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Lerud-Schuldt Funeral Home and one hour before the service on Wednesday at the church. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
Marsha Annette Smith, the daughter of Robert and Marcie (Smith) Therrien, was born May 31, 1944 in Jonesboro, IN. Marsha grew up in the Jonesboro area, and later moved to North Dakota where she graduated from Svea High School near Valley City. On October 10, 1964 she married Jerry Offner in Valley City where the couple made their home. Marsha worked most of her life as a waitress and loved to give her customers a hard time. Marsha was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Marsha enjoyed gardening, loved having a flower garden, going to a casino or bingo. Marsha’s grandchildren were the great joy in her life. Marsha is survived by her husband Jerry, Valley City, ND; one son, Jodey Offner, Glyndon, MN; two daughters, Dawn Offner and Lori (Derrick) Fretheim, all Valley City, ND; one brother, Rony; 8 grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
Marsha was preceded in death by her mother, Marcie Therrien.
