CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Members of the Valley Development Corporation made a request to the Barnes County Commission to levy 4 mils for the development of the Interstate 94 Regional Corridor construction projects.

The request if approved would raise about $250,000 annually for economic development. Commission president Eldred Knutson said the request will be discussed further as the commission works on its annual budget.

But Knutson told NewsDakota.com that he has concerns about using taxpayer money to help pay off $4.465 Million for the Stan Ryan property.

Members of the Valley Development Corporation Jennifer Feist and George Gaukler said the land purchase near the Interstate was instrumental for the project to succeed being that was the only acceptable location for National Guard officials.

A frontage road will also be built toward exit 294 that will relieve heavy truck traffic off Winter Show Road in Valley City.
