FARGO (NewsDakota.com) – Haley Butterfield allowed just one run in seven innings as she led Dickinson to an 8-1 win over Valley City in the first round of the Class A State Fast Pitch Tournament on Thursday.

The teams were tied 1-1 after five innings, but Dickinson broke the game open with three runs in the sixth inning and four runs in the seventh.

Valley City drops into the consolation semifinals on Friday where they will play Fargo North at about noon. North lost 6-2 to Minot Bishop Ryan on Thursday.
