Dora Lee, age 93, of Valley City died May 16th at Mercy Hospital in Valley City. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Tuesday May 21st at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Valley City with Rev. Emmy Isaackson officiating. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 PM Monday at the Lerud-Schuldt Funeral Home with a family gathering at 7 PM. Visitation will continue one hour before services Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Dora was born April 3, 1920 at Tolna, ND the daughter of Theodore and Irene (Ward) Steinmann. She grew up and attended school at Tolna, graduating in 1938. She then studied at the New York Academy of Hairstyling in Fargo, ND. On Aug. 19, 1939 she was united in marriage with Melvin Lee. He was employed by the Farmers Home Administration and the couple made their home in several North Dakota communities including Minnewaukan, Devils Lake, LaMoure, Langdon, Jamestown, Medora, and Valley City. Following their retirement the couple returned to Valley City. Mr. Lee died in 1992 and Dora continued to reside in Valley City. For the past three years she had been a resident of the Sheyenne Care Center.
Dora is survived by her three children: Robert (Bonnie) Lee, Medora, ND, Kathryn (Bill) Cruff, Rogers, ND, and Coleen (Trent Fisher) Spilde, Bismarck, ND; 9 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren and a sister, Amy Erdman of Valley City.
She was preceded in death by her husband, twin daughters, and a daughter-in-law, Darlene Lee.
