CITY (NewsDakota.com) – The Valley City girls tennis team is playing for a berth in the state tournament Thursday during the EDC Team Dual Tournament in Fargo.

Valley City enters the tournament on a roll, having won their last five EDC matches to earn the No. 3 seed. They play No. 6 Fargo Shanley in the opening round at 10 a.m. Thursday.

The top four teams from the double elimination tournament qualify for State next weekend in Grand Forks.

Valley City and Shanley played once earlier this season, with Valley City winning by a 6-3 score. On Friday and Saturday, Valley City’s players will compete in the EDC Singles and Doubles Tournaments, trying to earn individual spots in the state tournament.
