CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Sara Gullickson turned 23 on May 11 and graduated from Valley City State University on the same day with a teaching degree.

It almost didn’t have happen after a near fatal accident on Interstate 94 as she was avoiding a wild goose on the highway lost control and ending up in Hobart Lake about five miles west of Valley City on April 29th 2009.

The quick action of two Highway Patrol Troopers and countless members of the Valley City Barnes County Fire & Rescue squad recovered Sara some 20 minutes later from the lake, unconscious and in a coma.

Miraculously, a lot of prayers were answered and Sara woke from her nine day coma to make a full recovery.

News Director Steve Urness had a chance to interview Sara a day before she graduated from Valley City State University to talk about her tragic experience and her life four years nearly to the date after the accident and recovery.

As Sara mentioned in the interview she’ll become a Kindergarten teacher in Carrington this fall. We all wish this miracle woman all the best as she starts her new life and career.
