Althea N. Larson was born on May 20, 1928 in Luverne, ND, the daughter of Fred and Bertha (Baker) Larson. She attended school in Luverne and was a member of the class of 1946.

     While raising her three children, Althea worked at various jobs in the area. In 1977, she married Leo Ihry. They made their home in Hope, ND. He died in 1990.

     Her ever-present smile welcomed many to her home where the food was always plentiful and a card game was enjoyed. She was a devoted mother and grandmother.

     She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Hope.

     Althea died at Mercy Hospital in Valley City, ND on May 11, 2013 while surrounded by her family. She is survived by her daughters, Val (Jack) Moritz and Candice (Steve Sather) Lukes both of Valley City; grandchildren, Kim (Travis Gray) Moritz, Kristen (Jeremy) Pierce, Lance Lukes, Tina Weber, Tony Moritz; great granddaughter, Rylee Gray; sisters, Corky Strelau of Fargo, ND and Coyla Kunze of Valley City; and a brother, Mike Larson of Phoenix, AZ. Her sisters-in-law, Doreen Larson of Silver Bay, MN, Margaret Gunderson, Ardis Ihry, and Iris Ihry all of Hope and Rosalie Ihry of MN; brothers-in-law, Vernon Fuglestad of Cooperstown, ND and Bob (Connie) Ihry and John Ihry both of Fargo; as well as many nieces and nephews also survive.

     She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Ramona Fuglestad; brothers, Austin and Fritz Larson; son, Kevin; and husband, Leo.

     Family suggests memorials be directed to Hope Ambulance or the Hope Park Board.

     The funeral service for Althea Ihry, 84, Hope, ND, will be 2:00 PM, Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at St. Agatha’s Catholic Church, Hope. Burial will be in the Luverne Cemetery, Luverne, ND.

     Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Tuesday at St. Agatha’s Catholic Church, Hope. A prayer service will be held there beginning at 7:00. Visitation will resume an hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
