N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Stutsman County could soon join more than a dozen other counties that have issued burn bans after fighting 13 grass fires the first 10 days of May. The largest of the fires burned about 60 acres. No injuries have been reported so far.

A grass fire that burned 10 acres on May 9th caused some damage to a barn. According to Stutsman County Emergency Manager Jerry Bergquist, the area needs moisture. If rain doesn’t come before the county commission meeting on May 21st, he expects the county fire officials to request a burn ban.

So far, 16 counties in North Dakota have issued a burn ban including LaMoure, Dickey, Logan, and McIntosh.
