(NewsDakota.com)- While the season fell short of a berth in the NAIA World Series, Coach Tom Hager and the Jimmies have a lot to be proud of in their 2013 campaign. The won 17 games in a row at one point including sweeping the NAIA Unaffiliated Tournament and the opening two games at nationals.
The Jimmies lost Friday night 13-3 to Sterling (KS) and then Saturday afternoon to Oklahoma City 4-0.
Jamestown College had beaten No. 2-ranked Oklahoma City on Thursday to advance to the semi-finals behind a complete game two-hitter by Jimmie pitcher Blake Stewart. But this time it was the Stars pitcher Ryan Gibson who ran the show this time.
Gibson held the Jimmies hit less for six innings before Spencer Flaten broke through. Jamestown would get just one more hit, Erik Peterson singled in the 9th.
The Stars got a pair of unearned runs in the 2nd and 4th innings after Nico Moreno errors at third base. OKC added two more on solo home runs in the 7th inning.
It was the 6th appearance in the NAIA national tournament for the Jimmies in school history.
