(NewsDakota.com)- Jamestown College will host the unaffiliated national qualifying tournament at Jack Brown Stadium beginning Wednesday. Rather than compete in the A.I.I. for baseball, the area independent teams added Dickinson and applied with the NAIA to host a tournament to decided which of the five teams will make it nationals.
Valley City St., Mayville St., Dakota St., Dickinson St., and Jamestown College will be the five teams competing. The tournament opens at 11am with a game between VCSU and Dakota St.
The Jimmies will battle Dickinson St. in the second game and the night cap will feature top-seeded Mayville St. against the Trojan/Viking winner.
The tournament is double-elimination with three games Wednesday, three Thursday, two Friday and if a second championship game is needed Saturday as well.
The Valley City State and Jamestown College games on Wednesday will be broadcast on 103.1 The Raven, and also streamed online at NewsDakota.com.
