(NewsDakota.com)- It was all Jimmies this weekend on the diamond as both baseball and softball teams scored a quartet of victories.

The baseball team ran their record to 25-9 while sweeping four from Valley City St. The Jimmies won a pair of pitching duals on Saturday 5-4 and 4-1. The first game saw four lead changes.

Jamestown High grad Brady Anderson lead-0ff the game for the Vikings with a home run only to be followed up by a Scott Stevenson 2-run blast to give VCSU a 3-1 lead after one inning.

The Viking pitchers had trouble getting the final out in a couple different innings, including the sixth when Mitch Stevens drove in a pair of runs with two-outs for the decisive score.

Andy Young’s fifth inning blast in Game 2 broke a 1-1 tie and Kyle McKay threw seven solid innings for the win.

On Sunday, Jamestown finished off the sweep with wins of 9-4 and 14-10.

The softball team took a pair from each Valley City and Dakota St. to run their final record to 18-11.

The Jimmies took care of Valley City 7-3 and 11-0 (5 innings) on Saturday and then blasted Dakota St. 15-1 and 11-4 on Sunday.

The national qualifying for softball will begin Wednesday in Valley City. The baseball version will be played at Jack Brown Stadium in Jamestown. Pairings for both tournaments will be released today.
