Marvin Karvonen, 67, Lisbon, ND died Thursday afternoon, April 18, 2013 the North Dakota Veterans Hospital in Fargo, ND.

     Marvin Karvonen was born March 14, 1946 at Edgeley, ND, the son of Oscar Karvonen and Esther (Dormonen) Karvonen. He received his education and graduated from Lehr High School in 1965.

     He entered the US Army November 2, 1965 at Fort Eustis, VA and served in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged November 1, 1967 with the rank of PFC.

     He returned from the service and went to work at the Froehlich Seed Plant in LaMoure, and also helped in the summers on the family farm near Fredonia to help his brother Wesley. He retired due to his service related disabilities and resided in the ND Veteran’s Home at Lisbon for many years.

     He was a member of the Saari Finnish Lutheran Church in Gackle, ND.

     He is survived by his brother, Wesley (Judy) Karvonen, Enderlin, ND and many nieces and nephews.

     He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 half-brother, Norbert Holmstrom and 2 half-sisters, Verna Rappana and Florence Kinzler.

     Funeral Service – 2:00 PM Tuesday April 23, 2013 at the North Dakota Veteran’s Home, Lisbon, ND with Rev. John Anderson, officiating.

     Visitation – 1 Hour before the service at the Veteran’ Home in Lisbon

     Interment – Sarri Cemetery south of Gackle, ND.
