“Peggy” Marie Pedersen of Oakes, ND, formerly LaMoure, ND passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at Good Samaritan Society at Oakes, ND. She entered the Good Samartan Society in October of 2012.

Peggy, daughter of Arland and Evelyn (Conrad) Thorstad was born on August 17, 1934 at Marion, ND, where she attended school and graduated from Marion High School. She attended Valley City State University. She was united in marriage to Donald Pedersen on August 16, 1956 in Marion ND. They lived in Marion, LaMoure, Oakes, and back to LaMoure in 1968. Peggy worked at LaMoure Public School as a teacher’s aid, cook, librarian, retiring in 1999 after 31 years. She also worked at Granny Bar, R&N Bar and was LaMoure City Public Librarian. She was a member of Zoar Lutheran Church and taught Sunday School for many years. She was a member of Zoar WELCA, LaMoure Country Club, and LaMoure Senior Citizens. She loved volunteer work, reading books, playing cards and board games, attending her grandchildren’s activities, holiday cooking, needle work, watching Price is Right, and traveling with her sister Wilma, brother-in-law Bill, sister-in-law Marise Thorstad. She was an avid fan of the LaMoure Loboes, Minnesota Twins, and Minnesota Vikings. Don passed away in June of 2001.

She is survived by her children, Greg (Teri) Pedersen, and Dawn (Fiancee Mick Aberle) Pedersen, all of LaMoure; one sister, Wilma Shape, Coon Rapids, MN; one brother, Kenneth Thorstad, Park Rapids, MN; grandchildren Jared, Devin, and Noah Pedersen, LaMoure, Amanda (Eric) Magnuson, Brandon, MN, Elysse (Dan) Beeson, Shakopee MN, and Chelsey Kjelland, Fargo, ND., step-grandchildren, Celeste Aberle, Oakes, Dustin Aberle, Angela (Mike) Vogel, Wade Aberle, all of LaMoure, 5 great-grandchildren, 3 step-great- grandchildren; special friends Floyd and Frances Roehrich and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Peggy was preceded in death by her husband Don, her parents, brother and sister-in-law Eugene and Marise Thorstad, nephew Roger Thorstad, and brother-in-law William Shape.

A prayer service will be held at Zoar Lutheran Church, Friday, April 12, 2013 at 7:00 PM. The funeral will be at Zoar Lutheran Church at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 13, 2013.
