CITY (NewsDakota.com) – The Valley City State softball team has had to postpone its home opener for a third time.

After twice already postponing games that would have been their home opener, the Vikings had to do it again this week, postponing Tuesday’s scheduled games with Jamestown College due to possible snow and cold temperatures.

Until their field is fit to play on, head coach Chad Slyter says the Vikings are planning to play on the football turf at Lokken Stadium, but the weather would not cooperate Tuesday with the forecast calling for high temperatures of only 25 degrees. The Vikings also postponed a pair of JV games scheduled for Wednesday against Williston State.

Slyter said the Vikings are hoping to play games this weekend as scheduled. As of right now, the Vikings would play at Presentation College on Friday, host Presentation College on Saturday, and host University of Great Falls on Sunday. All games are weather permitting.
