CITY (NewsDakota.com) – Valley City Public Schools appears to be closing in on hiring a new activities director.

An interview committee is recommending the Valley City Public School Board hire Martin (Marty) Bratrud for the position. Bratrud is a native of Crookston, Minn. and is currently the Superintendent and Secondary Principal at Flasher Public School in southwest North Dakota.

The School Board is holding a special meeting Tuesday, April 9 at 5 p.m. to discuss a contract for Bratrud. If approved, he will officially start work on Aug. 5, 2013.

Bratrud is a graduate of Central High School in Crookston, Minnesota.  He received his Bachelor’s degree with a major in Social Studies Education and Political Science from Moorhead State University and Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from the University of Houston.

Currently, Dan Larson is the Junior High Principal and Activities Director for Valley City. That job is being split into two positions. Larson said Tuesday will be principal for Grades 7-9 starting next school year and a full-time activities director is being hired to start in August.
