Jacob Maas, 92, of Jamestown, ND, died Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at Eventide at Hi-Acres, Jamestown.
Jacob Friedrich Maas was born on August 17, 1920, at Krem, ND, the son of Fredrick and Lydia (Gross) Maas. The family moved to Ashley, ND where he attended country school. Jake joined the CCC’s and worked as a cook in Montana. He married Christine Remmich on November 28, 1939 at Long Lake, SD. They moved to Ashley and then to Jamestown in 1946 where Jake worked for Bernard’s Chevrolet, which later became Midway Chevrolet. He later owned and operated Jake’s Floor Service. After retirement he worked part time at the Jamestown Civic Center through the Green Thumb Program. Jake moved to Rock of Ages on March 8, 2010, then to Eventide at Hi-Acres on October 5, 2011.
Jake was a charter member of Temple Baptist Church.
Jake is survived by his children, Connie (Gordon) Houge, Jamestown, Don (Marlys) Maas, West Fargo, ND, Jerry Maas, Wadena, MN, and Pat (John) Raymer, Deerfield, MA; eight grandchildren, Dave Houge, Jason Houge, Michelle Moore, John Raymer, Jr., Kari Raymer, Brian Maas, Lori Pfeifer, and Jeff Maas; and twelve great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, August; five sisters, Pauline Unterseher, Emma Sailer, Emelia Borner, Rosa Retzer, Ottillia Heyd, and Hilda Bendewald.
Funeral Service: 2:30 p.m., Saturday, March 23, 2013 at Temple Baptist Church, Jamestown, ND with Rev. Randy Jaspers officiating.
Visitation: One hour before the funeral at the church.
Interment: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, at a later date.
