(NewsDakota.com) – District 2 won three of the four first-round games Monday during the Region 1 Girls Basketball Tournament.

Central Cass, Maple Valley and Kindred all won their quarterfinal matchups easily, while District 1 champion Fairmount-Campbell-Tintah rallied from a 31-17 deficit to beat Northern Cass 49-40.

Tuesday’s semifinals begin at 6 p.m. with Central Cass vs. Kindred, and then Maple Valley and F-C-T wrap up the night with the second semifinal at about 7:30 p.m. Pregame coverage begins at about 5:45 p.m. on Q101.1.

Northern Cass seemed intent on making it a District 2 sweep on day one, as they led the F-C-T Rebels by 14 early in the third quarter before Paige Meyer got hot. The junior guard knocked down four 3’s in the second half, helping to spur a 24-5 run that gave F-C-T a 41-36 lead they wouldn’t give back.

In the first game of the day, Central Cass started on a 17-0 run and coasted to a 52-22 win against North Sargent. Faith Dooley scored 19 and Hannah Breske added 13 in the victory.

In game two, it was the Kindred Vikings turn to fill up the score book. They posted 44 first-half points en route to a 64-41 win against Milnor. Kellie Schmit scored 17 and Brooke Graff added 16 for the Vikings.

In the final game of the night, Maple Valley jumped out to a 23-7 lead after the first quarter as they knocked off Lisbon 59-41. The Broncos were able to cut it down to eight point at 45-37 before Maple Valley closed it out. Rylee Nudell led the Raiders with 23 points and Abbie Tinjum added 12.

Lisbon was led by 13 from Miranda Ripplinger and 10 from Saraya Deibert.
