(NewsDakota.com) The last two times the Milnor High School boys basketball team played for a Class B Boys Basketball Championship, they were on the losing end of the contest. But Saturday night was not 1966 or 2004; and this time the Bison were able to have the most points at the end of the game, and took home the 2013 title with a 67-60 victory against the Four Winds/Minnewauken Indians.
The District 1 and Region 1 winners held together throughout the contest against the Indians, having a halftime lead of 31-25 and then starting out the second half on a 5-0 run. The Indians would cut the deficit down to as little as three, but poor shooting at 33.8 percent and foul troubles were too much for Four Winds to overcome down the stretch.
The Bison were lead by State Tournament MVP Britton Bussman, who finished the contest with 28 points to lead all scorers. Wyatt Mund had another double double for Milnor with 12 points and 17 rebounds. Austin Longie scored 24 points for the losing Indians.
In other action from Saturday, Trenton took third place after moving past LaMoure-Litchville/Marion 43-42. Fifth Place went to Dickinson Trinity as they defeated Rugby 57-54, and Shiloh Christian, the lone team returning to the tournament from last year finished in seventh place, winning against Cavalier 69-61.
