(NewsDakota.com) Both boys and girls basketball teams were in action at the Bismarck Civic Center today for round number two of the 2013 West Region tourney. The Blue Jay boys tipped of first against No. 4 Bismarck Demons on the Exhibit floor, the Demons beat the Jays 75-36. Bismarck moves on and will play tomorrow at 4:15p against the loser of Bismarck Century and Minot. The Blue Jay boys end their season at 3-19 overall and 1-17 in the WDA.
Leading the way for the Jays was Sr. Alex McInnes with nine, Seniors Lucas Keller and Austin Remmick added five each. The Blue Jays had 26 turnovers compared to the Demons 13. Leading the way for the Demons was Jr. Taylor Schafer with 14 points.
The No. 2 Blue Jay girls tipped things off on the main civic center floor against No. 3 Bismarck Demons shortly after the Blue Jay boys game. The Demons led the entire game as they go on to defeat the Blue Jays 60-51. Leading the way for the Jays was Sr. Paige Peterson with 13 points and 14 rebounds, her second double-double in as many games. Followed by Sr. Kyra Dewald with 12 and Sr. Billie Buchanan with 10. The Demons were led by Sr. Rylee Meier with 12 points. The Blue Jays drop to 16-5 overall and 14-4 in the WDA, Bismarck High improves to 14-7 overall and 13-5 in the WDA.
