CITY, I.A. (NewsDakota.com)- The frustration boiled over for Menlo College with about 10 minutes to when Sareen Ohanian picked up a technical foul. It was the depth that Greg Ulland kept calling from his bench that wore down the Lady Oakes en route to the Jimmies opening round win at the NAIA National Tournament, 70-54.
For the second year in a row the Jimmie women are headed to the round of 16. They will play Eastern Oregon Friday at 1:45pm. The Mountaineers are the top-seed in the quadrant and dissppoed of Southwestern (Kan.) in the opening round.
Bridget Shuneman lead the Jimmies with 19 points as she took control inside. Amber Ramlo owned the glass grabbing 14 rebounds.
Jamestown’s bench came up with 30 points to the Oakes nine. Kayla Roemmich came up big in the first half with 10 points taking advantage of Laura Adamek, Menlo’s 6’2″ post, on the bench. Adamek finished with 21.
Chelsey Frydenlund, Maggie Seter, and Hannah Steele each dished out four assists. Steele helped seal the game with free throws hitting 5-5 from the stripe down the stretch.
Coverage tomorrow begins on Q101 about 15 minutes before the estimated 1:45pm tip-off.
