JAMESTOWN – It’s 10 and counting for Jamestown Jimmies Softball.

Jamestown stretched their winning streak to 10 games and improved to 6-0 in NSAA play Sunday with a sweep of Dakota State 8-0 and 7-2 inside the Nelson Family Bubble.  This series was moved from Madison, South Dakota due to recent wintry weather.

Game 1: Jamestown 8, Dakota State 0
Kaitlin McCartney and Sydney Grendler each drove in two runs to back the combined shutout of Hope Ransome (6-4) and Maddie Hairgrove.

In a deciding five-run second inning for Jamestown (21-9, 5-0 NSAA), Grendler brought in the first two with a single. An error scored the third run, then Lauren Weigel and Maddie Spaeth had back-to-back RBI singles.

Sidnie Aasen’s sixth-inning sacrifice fly gave the Jimmies a 6-0 lead and McCartney singled in the final two runs in the seventh.

Ransome struck out eight and walked two in six innings while holding Dakota State (4-22, 0-5) to just two hits.

Game 2: Jamestown 7, Dakota State 2
Spaeth drove in three for Jamestown (22-9, 6-0), with Abby Blair (8-4) and Hairgrove combining on a five-hitter.

Spaeth singled in a first-inning run before UJ went up 3-0 in the second after an RBI double by Tori Olson and a run-scoring ground out by Spaeth.

McCartney hit her first home run as a Jimmie for a 4-0 lead in the top of the third.

Dakota State (4-23, 0-6) scored their runs in the bottom of the third on an RBI single by Hannah McFarland and a sacrifice fly by Gabrielle Ortega-Alves.

Spaeth reached on a error to drive in a run in the UJ sixth, followed by an RBI triple by Kayla Quintanilla.

Trinity Gregg singled in a run in the seventh.

Blair gave up two runs and five hits in five and two-thirds innings with two strikeouts and three walks.

The Jimmies and Trojans will play another doubleheader Monday at 1:00 PM inside the Nelson Family Bubble.
