JAMESTOWN, ND (March 16, 2025) – This spring graduating Jamestown High School or the Jamestown-BJA (formerly
Jamestown North) seniors will have another new scholarship offering through Jamestown Dollars for Scholars. The
$1,000 Angela Reidburn Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to a student planning to major in the fields of
mental health, addiction counseling, social work or criminal justice.
Jamestown Dollars for Scholars was presented with a $1,000 check from Reidburn’s sister, Amy Reidburn-Walker.
She shared, “Losing my sister at such a young age has been incredibly painful. However, by establishing this
scholarship in her memory, I hope to create a positive legacy and help make a brighter future for a deserving Blue
Jay graduate. It’s a way to turn this heartbreaking loss into something that can inspire others.”
Angela attended Roosevelt Elementary School and graduated from Jamestown High School in 1998 where she
loved playing soccer and will forever be a Blue Jay. Her fierce determination led her back to college later in life,
where she graduated from the University of Jamestown, with a degree in Addiction Counseling. She went on to
practice in the field, breaking barriers against the stigma of addiction, and positively impacting so many lives, as
she helped others through some of their own darkest days. She passed away on March 6, 2023, at the age of 43.
Elaine Hegland, board member, accepted the check on behalf of Jamestown Dollars for Scholars. She shared, and “We
are deeply grateful that Amy chose to honor her sister’s memory with this scholarship. Angela would be proud to
know that it will help a deserving student pursue their dream of higher education in a field she was so passionate
about.”
