(NewsDakota.com)—Easton Simon scored a team high 14 points to help New Rockford-Sheyenne (NRS) escape the opening round of the Region 2B boys basketball tournament with a 47-45 win. Simon knocked down a 15 foot shot from the right elbow with 4.4 seconds tom play for the game winner. Langdon Area-Munich (LAM) did not get a shot off in the final seconds as the Rockets had a pair of fouls to give and forced LAM to inbound with 1.9 seconds and ultimately turned the ball over to seal the Rocket victory. Bennett Meier added 11 points and Kage Walford added 10 points for the Rockets. LAM, who took a 20-8 lead early in the second quarter, were paced by freshman guard Eastyn Schaefer with a game high 16 point. Tanner McDonald added 9 points for the Cardinals. LAM finished the year with a 12-11 overall record. 8th-rated NR-S improves to 20-3 overall and will play Warwick in a regional semifinal on Tuesday.
