SANTA CLARITA, CA – Top-ranked The Master’s swept University of Jamestown Men’s Volleyball Wednesday 25-15, 25-16, 25-22 at the MacArthur Center, ending the Jimmies’ three-match swing in California with a sixth straight loss.  Jamestown has now lost 13 sets in a row.

Braden Van Gronigen had 11 kills and two blocks for the Mustangs (10-0).  Trace Oswald had eight kills and three aces.

Tomasz Swiderski paced the Jimmies (4-14) with 13 kills and a block.  Michal Niemiec had six kills, a block, a set assist and two digs.  Gabriel Ocasio registered 20 set assists.

Niemiec had a kill to help Jamestown to a 4-1 lead in the first set.  Later, the Jimmies led 12-11 before the Master’s scored six straight points, aided by kills from Oswald and Will Avera, plus two aces.

Van Gronigen had two kills in a 6-2 run to start the second set for The Master’s.  Jamestown was never closer than five points in the set following that.

Four Mustang errors led to a Jamestown run in the third set and a 6-3 lead.  Oswald had three kills in a 5-1 run that brought the Mustangs to a 13-12 lead.  Niemiec and Swiderski later had two kills for Jamestown, who was even at 20-20.  Then, a Bryce Jones kill and two errors sent The Master’s to a 23-21 lead.  Back-to-back errors for each side brought match point for the Mustangs, and Avera served an ace to clinch the win.

The Master’s outhit Jamestown .364 to .138 and the Mustangs had 35 kills to the Jimmies’ 23.

Jamestown will next play on Saturday, March 15, meeting Cornerstone University and Governors State University in University Park, Illinois.
