TUCSON, AZ – The start was slow for 2025 University of Jamestown Softball, but a current winning streak has come fast.

The Jimmies reeled off their sixth and seventh straight wins Wednesday, defeating two NAIA Top 10 teams in the Tucson Invitational Games at Lincoln Park.  UJ defeated 10th-ranked Madonna 7-6 and fourth-ranked Northwestern College 8-4.

Jamestown (11-8) let a 6-2 lead slip away, then scored the winning run in the bottom of the sixth. After Sidnie Aasen doubled to lead the inning off, she made third base on a wild pitch. A Maddie Spaeth ground ball out scored Aasen.

Kayla Quintanilla hit an RBI double and Natalie Draper had an RBI single in a two-run first inning for the Jimmies. Jamestown broke a 2-2 tie with four runs in the fifth. Three scored on an error, with Kate Geiszler singling in the other.

Madonna (11-4) tied the game with four runs in the top of the sixth.

Maddie Hairgrove (4-1) pitched the final two innings for the win in the circle. Hope Ransome struck out six in five innings.

Kaitlin McCartney was the dominant hitting star for the Jimmies (12-8). She drove in six runs with a two-run single in a three-run first inning and two-run doubles in the third and seventh innings.

Quintanilla hit a sacrifice fly and Lauren Weigel smacked an RBI single for the other Jamestown runs.

Abby Blair (4-4) allowed four runs and seven hits in five innings for the victory. Laura Ransome pitched two scoreless innings with two strikeouts for her second save.

Jamestown will meet the University of St. Francis (IL) in Tucson on Thursday.
