
Jamestown, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)—The top 4 seeds all advanced to the Monday night semifinals in the opening round of the district 2 boys basketball tournament being played at the Jamestown Civic Center.
Game 1
Edgeley-Kulm-Montpelier (EKM) 71 Strasburg-Zeeland (SZ) 28
Top seeded EKM rolled to a 43 point victory forcing 41 SZ turnovers. Joeseph Kramlich scored a game high 22 points and added an incredible 17 steals, also a game high, to help lead the Rebels to the win. Luke Nitschke added 14 points for the Rebels. The Clippers were paced by Brady Pool with 10 points and a game high 9 rebounds.
Game 2
Medina-Pingree-Buchanon (MPB) 65 Ellendale 47
The fourth seeded MPB Thunder used a 21-7 third quarter to put away upset minded Ellendale 65-47. Leading by 3 points at halftime (28-25), MPB put the game out of reach leading 49-32 entering the final quarter. Terek Kinzell scored a game high 20 points and added 4 assists to lead the Thunder. Chase Ova added 15 points, 4 steals, and also dished out 4 assists . Gage Hoffman added a game high 10 rebounds for MBP. Ellendale was paced by Sam Reiss with 18 points and Evan Wagner added 10 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists. Braxton Hokana had a game high 5 assists for the Cardinals.
Game 3
Linton-HMB (LHMB) 67 Kidder County (KC) 31
The second seeded Lions held KC to 20 points in the final 3 quarters and cruised to a 67-31 victory. Kashton Moser scored a game high 20 points and added 7 rebounds and 4 steals to help lead the Lions to the win. Gentry Richter added 18 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals for asolid all around game. Justin Bosch added 13 points, 4 assists, and 3 steals and Larry Umber added a game high 9 rebounds. The Wolves were paced by Grady Larson with 12 points and Bryce Larson added a game high 9 rebounds.
Game 4
LaMoure-LM (LLM) 58 Napoleon-GS (NGS) 39,
Third seeded LLM held NGS to 7 first half points and led 24-7 at the intermission. The Loboes were never threatened and went on to the 19 point win. The Loboes largest lead was 25 points at 40-15 late in the third quarter. Brayan Karlgaard paced the Loboes with 15 points and added 5 rebounds. Mason Warcken added 14 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals. Gunner Thielges added a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Avery Kramer added 9 points and a game high 4 assists to aid the Loboe win. Tristian Schaffner had a big night for the Imperials scored a game high 21 points and 18 rebounds. Schaffner added 3 assists, 3 blocked shots, and 2 steals.
