Valley City 53, Wahpeton 40

The top-seeded Hi-Liners overcame a slow start to pull away in the second half, defeating Wahpeton 53-40 to advance to the championship game.

Valley City’s offense struggled early, managing just 23 first-half points as Wahpeton took a 25-23 lead into the break, fueled by a late and-one play from Scout Woods. However, the Hi-Liners erupted in the second half behind Katie Burchill and Maddie Anderson, who combined for 32 points.

Valley City’s defense stifled the Huskies, holding them to single-digit scoring in both the third and fourth quarters. Woods led all scorers with 22 points, but Wahpeton couldn’t generate enough offensive support. The Hi-Liners outscored the Huskies 30-15 in the second half to secure the win.

Northern Cass 69, Kindred 54

Northern Cass stunned Kindred with a balanced attack, snapping the Vikings’ 14-of-15 game winning streak with a 69-54 upset.

While Haidyn Crockett remained the focal point for the Jaguars, Tess Jalbert and strong rebounding gave Northern Cass a 26-22 halftime lead. Kindred responded in the third quarter, with Siera Nipstad scoring 12 points as the Vikings put up 22 in the frame. Despite the surge, Northern Cass kept pace and entered the fourth quarter down just 44-43.

The final period belonged to the Jaguars. Jalbert, who finished with 20 points, knocked down a pair of threes, while Crockett and her teammates iced the game at the free-throw line, hitting 13 of 18 attempts. With Kindred struggling offensively late, Northern Cass pulled away to secure the upset victory.
