
BLOOMINGTON, IL – One nemesis was beaten, and the Jimmies now will face another.
University of Jamestown ACHA Division 1 Men’s Hockey shut out Midland Saturday 3-0 in the semifinal round of the Men’s Midwest College Hockey tournament at the Bloomington Ice Center.
Jamestown (23-11-1-0) struck quickly, with Zane McDonald scoring his eighth goal only 51 seconds into the game, assisted by Chase Visser and Brad Fortin.
An unassisted goal by Keaton Cline, his eighth, at 8:27 of the first period, extended the Jimmie lead to 2-0.
Phillippe Lessard popped in his first goal at 11:49 of the third period, set up by Cline and Griffin Bourassa.
Jamestown had 33 shots. Midland (18-17-1-0) had 25 shots, and Brandon Weare stopped them all four his fourth shutout this season and 21st in his three seasons with the Jimmies.
On Sunday, Jamestown will play top-ranked Minot State for the MCH title. After the Jimmies won the first regular season game between the schools in October, the Beavers won the last five.
