
Oakes, ND (NewsDakota.com) – The #9 Oakes Tornadoes continued their march towards the postseason with their 11th consecutive win during their final home game of the season as they beat LaMoure-LM Loboes 49-25.
The Tornadoes and the Loboes started out rather even with neither team truly able to get too much of an advantage. Oakes would hold the lead through the 1st however leading 12-7. LaMoure was already showing signs of slowing down however as the Loboes went 3/13 on the quarter. The shooting would then completely dry up for the Loboes as Oakes refused to let them get good shots from inside. The 2nd quarter would see the Tornadoes outscore the Loboes 13-1 as Oakes would go 5/11 from the field and LaMoure went 0/10. The Tornadoes would hold a 25-8 lead through the half.
The Loboes wouldn’t get a field goal until late in the 3rd quarter being outscored again by the #9 team in the state 17-4 as Oakes shot 50% from the field in the quarter and LaMoure went 1/14. The 42-12 lead would be enough for the Tornadoes as they cruised in the 4th to the 49-25 victory.
The leading all around scorer was Eddie Garza with 13 points (7/14 FG). Roddek Schmit had 10 (4/9 FG, 2/7 FT) and Jyles Meier had 10 (5/7 FG). The leading scorer for LaMoure was Avery Kramer who had 12 (4/15 FG, 3/4 FT).
LaMoure-LM picks up their 3rd straight loss falling to an 11-7 record. They next play against Lisbon in Lisbon on Saturday Feb 22nd.
The Oakes Tornadoes pick up their 11th straight win and are now 15-3 on the season and 15-1 since losing their first two games on the season. They will now wrap up the regular season playing in the NDSCS Bonanza against Fargo Oak Grove’s JV team on Saturday Feb 22nd.
